Mountain vegetable MIZU from Akita By Mu

Have you ever heard of MIZU?
This is a very common mountain vegetable in Akita prefecture. Very juicy and crispy. We all love it but the thing is that we have to cook them as soon as they are delivered. Thus, a hard work required: peeling the skins is quite time-consuming...

This is how we cook at home.
1. Stir-fry with pork and bean noodles.
2. Lightly boil and mix them with salty kombu seaweed. Or just sprinkle a bit of salt.
3. The red bits (closer to roots) become very sticky, so we boil them lightly and chop them into very tiny pieces and finally mix them with miso. It goes very well with white rice! Mmm...yummy!

Homemade fig leave tea By Chi

Our fig has grown giant, so we had to trim off 1/3 of the tree.
Now that we got quite a lot of leaves, we dried them and made healthy tea! It's said to work for high-blood pressure, diabetes, irregularity etc etc...
But I can't say it's tasty, it rather makes me feel like a mountain hermit...I might try mix some dried figs later.

裏庭のイチジクの木がとっても大きくなってしまったので、木の3分の1ぐらいを切ることになりました。切り落とした葉っぱが沢山あるので、乾かして、健康茶を作ることにしました！イチジクの葉は、高血圧、糖尿病、便秘なんかに効くそうです。しかし、美味しいとは言えませんね。むしろ、仙人になったような気分になります（笑）あとで、乾燥イチジクを混ぜてみようかと思っています。

Leather key case/holder By Chi

Made a leather key case/holder slightly changing a design made by my leather teacher. Sometimes I want to carry keys without a case depending on a bag (Girlies, you know what I feel? Girls change bags almost everyday!), so I call it a "transformer-key case"! And I made a pocket on the back so that I can carry train cards etc...Aaaand I can hang it around a bag handle! Handy, huh?

革の先生が作ったデザインを少し変えて、革のキーケース／ホルダーを作りました。たまにキーケースから出して持ち歩きたい時があるので（女子にはこの気持ち分かりますよね？女の子はほぼ毎日バッグを変えますからね！）、＂トランスフォーマー・キーケース＂と呼ぶことにします。それから、後ろにポケットを付けたので、電車のカードなんかも入れておけます。そして、バッグの手の部分に付けておけるので、便利！
便利でいいでしょ？

Silver shopping-bag like bag♡ By Chi

Another silver bag looking like a plastic shopping bag! Again this used to be a kimono belt.
Made some side pockets and made the liner spring pink!

レジ袋をイメージして、もう一つシルバーバッグを作りました。これもまた着物の帯をリメイク。サイドにポケットを幾つかつけて、裏地も春色ピンクにしました。

iPhone leather case By Chi

Not really satisfied with what I made as it came out very different from what I imagined, but I have to use this for now since I dropped my iPhone and the plastic case got cracked. It came out bigger than imagined because I had to fit it to the clasp.
But it can be useful as I can fit some cards inside?

想像通りに出来なくて、あまり気に入っていませんが、先日iPhoneを落としてしまい、プラスチックのケースが欠けてしまったので、とりあえずは、これで我慢します。口の金具にサイズを合わせたら、少し大き目に出来てしまいました。
でも、余裕がある分、カードとかも入って意外と便利かも？

Leather clutch purse repair By Chi

Found an old leather clutch purse made by my aunty long time ago. Applied polishing oil and put a new leather string. I like the fainted red that I think suits my mode now :)

伯母が昔作った革バッグを直して使うことにしました。艶出しオイルを塗って、新しい革紐を付けました。良い感じに淡い赤になってて、今の私の気分にピッタリかも。

And welsh onions that we ate and planted have grown up this much! We cut them off with scissors and put them in salads etc...
Feeling happy to eat something we grow at hand :)

それから、食べたネギの根っ子部分を植えたら、こんなに大きくなりました！これもハサミでちょきちょき切ってサラダなんかに入れちゃう。
自分で育てたものを食べれるって幸せ♡

Bling-bling embroidery by Chi

My sister took a while to file all the "Pochi" envelopes (Petite envelopes) beautifully that our grandma used to collect. So impressed!
They are so cute that I revived one of the motifs as an embroidery.

Kimono belt clutch purse by Chi

Found an old silver kimono belt at home, so turned it into a clutch purse! I like the elaborated colourful work inside the bag :) I can't stop loving it because I made it! :)))))

シルバーの古い着物の帯が家にあったので、クラッチバッグにしてみました。バッグの中を凝ったところが私は好き！やっぱり、自分で作った物は愛着が湧いて、気に入らずにはいられない！（笑）

Portable leather bike basket-bag by Chi

Made a leather basket-bag for my bike the other day as my bike didn't have one. Pretty handy so far because I can hook/unhook this bag onto/off the handles and go shopping with the bag :)

自分の自転車に籠が付いていなかったので、持ち運べるタイプの自転車用籠バッグを作ってみました。ハンドルに引っ掛けて使うので、そのまま外してお買物に行けるので、なかなか便利☆

I made creme patissiere to eat fresh strawberries and a pie in the fridge!
Nice and easy!

冷凍パイにクレームパティシエールと苺をのせて食べました。

生の苺と冷凍パイがあったので、クレームパティシエールを作りました。
簡単で美味しかった！

New handmade shoes By Chi

My dark-blue short boots are finally done!
You know I'm a girl who wants to have it all (!), so I made them to be worn in three ways :)

One with a white tongue.
One with a blue tongue.
One without a tongue.

They feel quite light because I used a thin pig leather.

At first I thought this design was easy to make, but then I realised at the pull-and-tuck stage that these shoes were actually hard to tuck the hemline because the outside circumference from the center line is longer than the inside one and accordingly more leather gathers in the inside circle. But somehow made them look like shoes! Haha!
Learning something little by little everyday:)

紺色のショートブーツが出来上がりました！ご存知の通り、欲張りな私は、3wayブーツにしたのでした。

靴のベロをリバーシブルにして、紺バージョン、白バージョン、そしてベロなしバージョンです。

薄いブーちゃん革で作ったので、軽い靴に仕上がりました。

最初は簡単に作れるデザインだと思いましたが、吊り込み段階で、中心線から外側の円周の方が内側の円周よりも長いので、内側に革が寄ってしまって、裾部分の革の吊り込みが難しいことに気付きました。それでも何とか靴らしく仕上がりました！（笑）
少しだけれども毎日何かを学んでいると思う瞬間です。

I made a whole souffle cheese cake probably for the first time in my life and it was perfectly baked!

I was so happy to see my friend's happy face :) 

(I personally like the flowery shaped shade around the cake.)

バースデーガールの友人も喜んで食べてくれて、作った本人も嬉しさ百倍！元気も百倍！そして、もっと作りたくなっちゃう！
